Presentation

  1. Invite the child to the lesson.
  2. Explain that the child will learn how to carry a chair. Ask the child to watch. 
  3. Step to the side of the chair so that your legs are facing the right side of the seat. Pause, look at the child 
  4. Bend your knees. With your subdominant hand, grab and hold the backrest of the chair. Pause, look at the child. 
  5. With your dominant hand, grab and hold the base of the seat. Pause, look at the child. 
  6. Straighten your legs. Pause, look at the child. 
  7. Lift the chair so that the base is at belly button level. 
  8. Pull chair in closer so it is just a couple inches away from your body. Pause, look at the child. 
  9. Carry chair to desired destination.  
  10. Lower chair, setting one leg down first. Pause, look at the child. 
  11. Set the leg next to it down. Pause, look at the child. 
  12. Set the last two legs down simultaneously. 

Exercise

Same as presentation.

Listening to whether the chair was put down quietly and carefully.
